RNC Mass Defense.
The Mass Defense Committee of the NLG-NYC Chapter, which
has been providing legal observers and lawyers for activists
since 1968, was proud to offer its depth of experience and
knowledge to activists organizing events surrounding the Republican
National Convention this summer in New York City. We have organized
the defense for the majority of more than 1800 people who were
arrested. Arrestees have retained lawyers for individual lawsuits
and a class action lawsuit has been filed.
The Committee is coordinating its efforts to provide RNC Mass Defense legal support with the People’s Law Collective, the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys and the Center for Constitutional Rights.

RNC Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed Against NYC 11/23/04 - On November 22, a group of protestors and bystanders wrongfully arrested during the Republican National Convention last August filed a class action lawsuit against the city of New York.
