Lawyers, Legal Workers, Law Graduates and Law Students working with the NLG-NYC are currently involved in the following activities in support of Occupy Wall Street:

- Tabling on behalf of the NLG-NYC
- Representing protesters arrested in OWS protests
- Responding to legal issues as they arise at Liberty Park
- Legal observing at OWS protests
- Operating a hotline for arrests
- Providing “know your rights” trainings

MASS DEFENSE

We are currently assisting with the representation of almost 2000 people and need lawyers and legal workers to join our mass defense effort. Please click here for more information.

We maintain a listserv of lawyers, law graduates and law students who are available for research requests and other case assistance. If you would like to join this list, visit this page to subscribe.

TABLING FOR THE GUILD

The NLG table has relocated to 60 Wall Street, and we’d love more volunteers to join our tabling efforts. OWS needs and appreciates NLG support — let’s be there for them to help them thrive and grow through the winter months.

We try to staff the table with two volunteers from 5 pm-7 pm everyday of the week, who answer general legal questions, distribute “Know Your Rights” booklets and a “Frequently Asked Question” (FAQs) document and collect arrest information in anticipation of the need for legal representation in criminal cases. An on-line calendar is available for volunteers to sign up for coverage.
